Robert Mizzell Tour
Robert Mizzell has made Ireland his home for over 20 years.
He served his apprenticeship in Country Music since he first
arrived here. The father and husband is now one of the top
Country Music Artists in Ireland, enjoying huge success all
around the country. He has released 11 solo studio albums
and 2 full length DVD’s
to date and is constantly touring Ireland and the UK with his
band. Robert was voted ‘Ireland’s Favourite Country Music
Singer’ in a poll conducted by RSVP magazine.
Robert was born in Louisiana, the Bayou State and raised on
the shores of Lake Bistineau near Shreveport. His early
musical influences came from his parents, whom both
performed in a Church Gospel group. At the age of 17, Robert
moved to Connecticut where he worked with his father in the
painting and decorating business. He then joined the US Army
where he served for a number of years. After his military
service he moved to Ireland with dreams of a career in
country music.
‘Kick Ass Country’ was Robert’s first major hit, but it was the
song ‘Say You Love Me’ that made him a household name in
Ireland. More of his hit songs include ‘Mama Courtney’, Day
Job’, ‘John Deer Beer’, ‘Louisiana Saturday Night’ and Wham
Bam’ to name a few…
Robert has recorded many songs in his career, but two of the
highlights were in 2010 when he released a very personal,
original song, written for him by Henry McMahon namely
‘Mama Courtney’. This tells the story of his upbringing in
Shreveport by his Foster Mother. He also recorded a cover of
‘Murder on Music Row’ with top American Country Artist,
Collin Raye. Both singles reached the number one position on the European Country music charts during 2010 and
remained in the charts for twenty weeks.
Saturday, the 29th of October 2011 was a very special day for Robert Mizzell.
He was inducted into Shreveport’s ‘Walk of Stars’ in recognition of his
achievements in the world of Country Music. This date is now known as
‘Robert Mizzell Day’ in Shreveport. This was a huge honour to receive, given he
is a native son of Louisiana and it is the highest accolade his own home city
can bestow on him. Some other people who are inductees are; Elvis Presley
(posthumously), Merle Kilgore (who co-wrote ‘Ring of Fire’ with June Carter
Cash) and Hank Williams Snr. and Jnr.
In 2004, Robert wanted to let his fans get an insight of where he came from and
his background in Louisiana. He started a trend of taking his fans on tour with
him to the USA, visiting places like Nashville, Memphis, Austin, San Antonio,
Branson and New Orleans, which has gone down a storm. Most of the people
who have travelled on these trips have now become lifelong friends of Robert’s
and have got to meet his family in
Louisiana and see how far he has come. They are always ready for the road
when Robert is going back to his roots! During these trips Robert had the
opportunity and privilege of performing at elite venues including; The Midnite
Jamboree; The Ernest Tubb Theatre; The Cowboy Church; The Carter Family
Fold; The Country Tonite Theatre and in his native Shreveport in Louisiana.
In May of 2015, Robert decided to change his route to take in Europe and has
just returned from his second highly successful ‘Boogie on the Brava’ in Spain.
Here he hosted an unforgetable week in the Sun with his band. A host of other
artists flew out to join in the fun and frolics throughout this wonderful week of
top class entertainment. Already, he is working on making his ‘Boogie on the
Brava 2017’ an even better week if that is at all possible!!
Robert also flew out to his homestate of Louisiana in the USA to record a radio
documentary with RTE, which will be aired on RTE radio this December. This will
capture Robert’s life and humble beginning before he came to Ireland and started
his music career. It will also have interviews with his family and give you an idea
of where this Louisiana Man came from!
Finishing of the month of June, Robert was delighted to be awarded the first ever
RTE ‘Video of the Year’ Award at the 2016 ICMA’s in Dublin, which is a huge
milestone in his career to date.
The summer season is indeed in full swing with Robert Mizzell & his band on the road four or five nights of the
week, taking their authentic sound of country music to every corner of the Country. Having just released his new
single & video for ‘Gone Gone Gone’ Robert is delighted with the feedback he is receiving and also the requests for
this at his gigs! During his free-time, Robert is in the studio working hard on his 12th studio album, which is due
for release in the Autumn. Robert says ‘He can’t wait for his fans to hear his new album, as it is a real true country
music album!’
Once the summer season is over, Robert will be back on the road with ‘The Three Amigos, for a highly anticipated
nationwide tour. Last year saw Robert, with his good friends, Jimmy Buckley and Patrick Feeney perform to sell
out venues everywhere they played as part of The Three Amigos group. They are also hosting a trip to the Costa
del Sol this Autumn, and bringing some of their friends in the music business with them.
All in all Robert Mizzell is extremely busy, both on and off the road and proving to be a huge hit wherever he plays.
His warm character and genuine personality does not fail to earn him a host of new fans. This is proven every night
after his gig when he stands to meet and greet all the punters, who have travelled from near and far to see him
perform. Anyone who has ever been to one of his shows will agree that it is two hours of non-stop entertainment
and that Robert Mizzell definitely puts his heart and soul into every song proving why he is one of Ireland’s top
country music recording artists!
